London adventures – South Kensington

Yesterday I decided to spend my lunchtime and afternoon having a meandre around a museum and then grabbing a lunch somewhere.

It was quite a day outside, so I hopped the tube the South Kensington and had a little bit of time before meeting my friend.

Lying on the grass outside the Natural History Museum. THAT SKY.

I (grumpily) popped across the road to the V&A to meet my friend, as we wanted to check out the fashion exhibition, but in very unusual(ish) style we ended up spending more time in the gift shop ogling the screenprints.

In my defence as much as I adore museums, the V&A is a bit too overwhelming for me. Their Samurai displays are incredible, but there is so much to take in, I find it quite difficult to know what to look at/where to go.

After our little museum trip, we headed towards South Kensington station, the regeneration there has been incredible, as there are now more places to eat than just the greasy spoon cafe!

We decided on Brompton Food Market, and I am so glad we did! It’s a posh deli/supermarket type place, and if you head through their back door, they have what they call their ‘secret garden cafe’.

I went for salad as it was so hot, and man I can still taste those tomatoes, they were so fresh! If you have a day at a museum planned in the area, I definitely recommend this place!

That lemonade was so perfect in the heat.

Do any of you have a favourite London museum? Do you have any other recommendations in the South Kensington area?

Don’t forget I am also running a lil’ Summer giveaway, all you have to do is comment!

  1. I can’t wait to finish university and move to London. I’ve been visiting my auntie at least twice a year for the past ten years and it’s still a total novelty whenever I go down. My aunt says the same thing.
You lunch looks amazing – as does that lemonade! It reminds me of this vintage lemonade stand at Leeds festival.
Looks like a perfect day out!

  2. Every time I see anything picture of London I tell myself I have to make a way that I can live there one day. That is my dream place to live! I would love to go to school there or live there. London seems amazing!
